song of the moors

misty wispy smoky hues

of sage mauve ochre charcoal dove

Tufty tussocks, coarse and tough

bent double in an endless bow

of homage to the vicious scathing gale

which scours the desolate heights with relentless zeal

this wild brutal wide open space

Inhospitable to all but the toughest

bursts forth with a passionate vivid purple cloak to honour summer

  1. Vivid evocations and the anticipation of the purple heather to come, what a wonderful and intense depiction of the moors, especially love the last 4 lines…love the wild open moors. xox
